Volunteering
Age UK Lambeth’s mission is to support and work with older people to achieve a full and enjoyable quality of life.
The range and quality of services we provide is only possible through the help of the volunteers who work with us.
We offer all our volunteers relevant training and support. We can also cover some expenses. To find out more click on any of the links below.

Befriending
Our Befriending Service is for older people who may feel socially isolated and lonely. Our main target client group are the 9,800 (40%) Lambeth residents aged over 65 who live alone. We match each individual applicant with a suitable volunteer who visits their home for at least one hour a week to keep them company and have a chat.
The Handypersons Service carries out minor repairs, improvements or adaptations to enable older people to maintain their independence and live in a warm, weather tight, safe and secure home. Please see here for the leaflet and more information. It charges £20 per hour, or £10 per hour for people on means tested benefits. Click here or call Sue Taylor on 020 7346 6806 for further information
The Vida Walsh Activity Centre is a place for those older people who want to get out and about to do things. There are lunches, arts and crafts, exercise classes and more. Click here for more information and here to see their activity programme.
Events
Coach trips are arranged regularly to places like Hastings, and the Promenade Festival in Worthing. There is also an annual "Celebrating Age Festival" held in October, with a variety of film, music, dance and art events, tours, and other exciting things going on!
